Fantastic Beasts free at Geneva Theater during city’s Magical Musings Festival
Magical Musings in Lake Geneva, the city’s inaugural Harry Potter-inspired festival, includes a free family movie and a costume contest at Geneva Theater.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will play Saturday, Nov. 3, 10:00 a.m., free to the first 220 people. The 2016 release is rated PG-13 and chronicles the adventures of wizard and author Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards, 70 years before Harry Potter reads Scamander’s textbook at Hogwarts. The movie stars Eddie Redmayne and is based on a book of the same name by Harry Potter series author, J.K. Rowling.
Geneva Theater events coordinator, Marie Frederick, said, “we love offering the community free movies and this one is perfect because the second Fantastic Beasts movie, The Crimes of Grindelwald, with Johnny Depp, will be released soon, on November 16.”
At 9:50 a.m., before the movie begins, members of a real-life collegiate Quidditch team will give a presentation. After the movie, at 12:15 p.m., there will be a costume contest on stage open to all ages, species and beasts!
Geneva Theater will also be a stop on the downtown Magical Musings scavenger hunt with a secret character hidden in a special Harry Potter-themed selfie station.
