Geneva Theatre Actors Guild opens its season with Lombardi, a play about the famous Green Bay Packer football coach. Performed as a reader’s theater, new member James McClure stars in the title role and JaNelle Powers appears as Vince’s wife, Marie.
Playwright Eric Simonson, a Wisconsin native, follows Vince Lombardi’s life through a week during the 1965 season as he leads his team into the championship game. The Packers won the title that year, the last season before the introduction of the Super Bowl.
There will be two performances on the historic stage of Geneva Theater: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, and 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2019.
Admission is free but there is a $10 suggested donation and proceeds will be given to the local chapter of Special Olympics.
