In honor of the 92nd Academy Awards this month, and to kick off its 2020 season, Lake Geneva Film Club is screening the winner of the Best Picture in 1975 on the big screen with all the respect a film like The Godfather: Part II deserves.
Number two in the Godfather trilogy, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, it is considered the best sequel ever made.
The film is both sequel and prequel to The Godfather presenting parallel dramas: one picks up the 1958 story of Michael Corleone (Pacino), the new Don of the Corleone Family, protecting and expanding the family business in the aftermath of an attempt on his life. The prequel covers the journey of his father, Vito Corleone (De Niro), from his Sicilian childhood to the founding of his family enterprise in 1910s New York City. Rated R.
A $10 donation admission is suggested. Proceeds benefit Never Say Never Playland to build a playground in Lake Geneva for people with disabilities.
