Lake Geneva Film Club

This month’s film: North by Northwest

Wednesday, April 25, 2018, 7pm

Alfred Hitchcock’s glamorous, espionage thriller from 1959 starring the dashing Cary Grant in his prime and the beautifully seductive Eva Marie Saint. One of the most entertaining movies ever made and one of Hitchcock’s most famous suspense/mystery stories of his entire career. This is a tale of mistaken identity, with an innocent man pursued across the United States by agents of a mysterious organization trying to prevent him from blocking their plan to smuggle out microfilm that contains government secrets. This film still holds up today with modern day action/adventure movies and is one of the mandatory BIG SCREEN movies that the LGFC has on their list. Huge sprawling cinematography, incredible camera angles and endless action scenes makes this a perfect choice for seeing it again, or for the first time on the big screen. Pre or post movie cocktails TBD.
Proceeds benefit Never Say Never Playland.

The Fourth Wall

by Award Winning Playwright A. R. Gurney
Thursday, March 15, 2018

Suggested Donation $10.00
Proceeds benefit Badger High School Theater Scholarship Fund

The Geneva Theatre Actors Guild, in conjunction with the Lake Geneva Movie Theater and the Friends of the Theater, are proud to present Pulitzer Prize winning author A. R. Gurney’s play, The Fourth Wall. The main idea of the play centers around a woman who finds herself at a crossroads in life.

She arranges all her living room furniture to face one wall (the fourth wall) with the idea that she needs to reach through this wall, as if it were a stage front, to the rest of the world or audience. Her husband thinks she is going a little nuts and enlists the help of an old friend. However, all of them start behaving as if they actually were in a play, so, he hires a stage director to take control of the whole mess. Reality and theater collide in a funny, meaningful way. Along the way we poke fun at the New York theater scene, the so-called provinces, academia and even politics. Actors Guild regular Chris Brookes will Guild founders JaNelle Powers, Harold Johnson and Gordon Wisniewski.

The Fourth Wall will be presented in reader’s theater format on Thursday, March 15th at 7:30 pm.  A $10.00 donation is suggested and will benefit the Badger High School Theater Scholarship Fund. Don’t miss this fun and thought-provoking theater experience on the Lake Geneva Movie Theater’s old vaudeville stage.

On February 8th at the Geneva Theater Actors Guild will present Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s play Love, Loss and What I Wore.

The play will be presented at 7:30 pm at the historic Geneva Theater on Broad Street in downtown Lake Geneva.

Love, Loss and What I Wore uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to.

Our local cast of actors will be headed up this month by Chris Brookes and JaNelle Powers.

Suggested $10.00 donation per guest, all proceeds for this production will be donated to our local Red Cross Blood Drive.

Our production is made possible by the generosity of the Geneva Theater and The Friends of the Geneva Theater, a 501c3 charitable organization helping our local arts community.
